InsideOut Mission Statement: Our mission is to offer support for women, men, and children through life's broad range of experiences. We are committed to addressing the individual and diverse realities within our communities; so that all women, men and children can make wise, informed, and confident choices in any and all circumstances and relationships in life. Our vision is of a society in which pregnancy options are discussed with openness, honesty, and the deepest respect for reproductive freedom, where they can come for assistance and receive tangible items (i.e. furniture, clothing, housing, transportation vehicles and food), Mental Health Counseling (i.e. Grief, Womens, Men and Adolescent Issues, Post Abortion, Pre/Post Placement etc.) where specific issues revolving around their circumstances can be addressed with Factual Information used to Educate (i.e. Plausible Causes and Effect of Parenting, Abortion and Adoption), as well as where they can receive education (i.e. parenting classes, Lamaze classes, High School Equivalence Courses, etc.), also to provide a link for the community to build long lasting relationships between themselves and others like them. Our Vision: To address for women, men and children the broad range of experiences surrounding preventative pregnancy, pregnancy, parenting, adoption and abortion. We provide a channel for which women, men and their loved ones can engage in discussion that goes beyond being politically/religiously rhetoric. Assisting them to have the resources they need to make the preventative pregnancy, pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption decisions that are best for their lives. Our Core Values: * Women, men and children will be supported in making the pregnancy, parenting, abortion and adoption choices that are best for their lives. * All people will be treated with dignity and respect. We honor the complexity inherent in personal, political and spiritual realities. * Pregnancy, parenting, abortion and adoption are a normal part of life. All experiences are valued. * Women, men and children will cope best through:pregnancy, parenting, abortion, post abortion, postpartum and post placement when they have had emotional support and acceptance before, during and after their pregnancy. * Women, men, children and their loved ones need a safe space to explore and resolve their own feelings and experiences around pregnancy, parenting, abortion and adoption before they can be mobilized to political or socially active. * A community cannot have a high quality of life without healthy individuals and families. As a community it is our job to provide resources to help those individuals, parents and families who want to be the best possible contributors to society, but lack the support, knowledge and skills. * While most Pregnancy services traditionally focus on women and children, there are few innovative programs and studies which are searching for ways to involve men. Ideally, we believe everyone should receive lifelong education about reproductive health, choices, as well as support, including men. * Studies show that adolescents who feel they can talk with their parents or another respectable influential adult about sex -- parents/adults are encouraged to speak openly and listen carefully to them -- are less likely to engage in high-risk behavior as teens than those who do not feel they can talk with their parents or another respectable influential adult about the subject. * As adolescents work to 'construct' a personal identity for themselves (one of the many developmental tasks of adolescence), they consider what they think and how they feel about things. As a community, and as parents we are to validate their thoughts and feelings, and properly inform adolescents in regards to sexual activity. |
